…on the brewing front.
Knocked out a 45L batch of my house IPA for Christmas and NYE, at the request of my parents. The beer turned out OK, but not quite as good as the Gawler Show. Mashed a bit high accidentally, but I had no carapils to go in it. Mashing high seemed to help a little, but the FG was a little high for my liking because of the mash temp.
I got my hand-pump a month or so ago, and I managed to clean that up with some PBW. Looking for a chance to give it a run, I have a 1/2 keg of Mocha Porter which is uncarbonated (probably undercarbed for a handpump though).
My beer cordial American Brown Ale ended up coming up pretty well and at a lower ABV that was a nice pint to have at the end of the day.
Planning on brewing up a German Pils in the next week or so while I’m holidays and I also have a smackpack of 1469 here which would be nice in a Mild or Ordinary Bitter of some kind for the handpump.
I’m cutting back on drinking though, as I’m looking to improve my health quite a bit and shed about 10kg total. Trying not to drink every night now and exercise every night – either pushup challenge or on the exercise bike. I’m looking at getting back into kart racing in the new year.
